Obituary

Carlos Amador
In the early hours of February 5, 2023, due to a heart weakened over time, Carlos died of natural cause at Rush University Hospital, comforted by the excellent team of nurses and doctors in the MICU. Born in Ayutla, Jalisco, Mexico to Rafael and Francisa, Carlos would enjoy a happy childhood
cemented by the ease to try his wanderlust to his beloved Barranca. That curiosity for new places would eventually extend to the United States. He officially came to Chicago in June 1955. Carlos married Guadalupe and they lived in Pilsen as many other new immigrants to Chicago did in 1955. He enjoyed several types of jobs in Chicago but once he had a taste, literally, of working for the confections industry, that is where his heart would stay. He'd often recite the steps for creating peanut brittle and it sounded like magic or alchemy. They produced peanut
brittle for many of Chicago's confectioners. Eventually, Carlos, Jr. was born and just before then, he switched jobs to work at the best
smelling factory in the city, Nabisco. He was listed as a line attendant, but it simply meant he did a lot of different jobs in the South Bakery. He worked in and enjoyed working for Nabisco for thirty-one (31) years. Several times he would sneak chocolate chip cookies out to his son, Carlos,
Jr. to enjoy still warm and not anything like what you can taste in a package available in stores. He recalled his time there fondly and would speak of this time with great reverence and joy. So many people he spoke of that his son felt he knew everyone there. Carlos really enjoyed futbol to the point of traveling internationally for the World Cup and loved the '74 Germany tournament the most. He would watch all of the games he could not attend and he and Carlos, Jr. shared the tournament in Qatar as his last. Carlos was preceded in death by: Jose, Rosario, Maria Luisa, Juan. He is survived by his son, Carlos, sister Manuela, and sister Consuelo In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Kidney Fund - kidneyfund.org.
