Emigdalina Delgado

Emigdalina Delgado, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 9, 2026. Born on October 21, 1954, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, Emigdalina was the daughter of the late Gabino Perez Boneta and Ramona Perez Gaud. She grew up surrounded by family alongside her siblings – Adelaida, the late Nereida, the late Octavio, Anderson, William, the late Jose Gabino, Milton, Brigida and Maria. The values she learned during those early years — family, hard work, generosity, and caring for others — remained an important part of the woman she became. In 1973, Emigdalina married the love of her life, Florentino Delgado, in Chicago. For 52 years, they shared a life together through its joys, challenges, changes, and countless memories. Together they raised their two children, Jorge and Rosalba, and built a family that remained one of Emigdalina's greatest sources of pride and happiness. Emigdalina was a hardworking and dedicated woman throughout her life. Over the years, she worked at Playskool, drove for the CTA, worked for the United States Postal Service and Aeroflash, and ultimately dedicated 20 years to Action for Children before retiring. Wherever she worked, she brought the same dedication and willingness to help others that she brought to every part of her life. But Emigdalina was so much more than the places she worked or the years she spent there. She found happiness in life's simple things. She loved to walk, enjoyed tending to her garden, and took pleasure in neighborhood celebrations and being around people. She had a warm smile, a generous heart, and a natural way of making others feel welcome. She cared deeply for those around her and gave of herself freely, creating memories that will continue to be treasured by those who loved her. Above all, Emigdalina loved her family.

She leaves behind her husband, Florentino; her children, Jorge and Rosalba; her son-in-law, Miguel; her grandchildren, Aisolis, Yarelis, Olivia, and Miguel; her great-granddaughter, Rosalia; as well as her siblings, extended family, and many friends who loved her dearly. Her family will remember not simply the milestones of her life, but the woman behind them her smile, her strength, her kindness, the way she cared for people, and the countless ordinary moments that now mean so much.Although Emigdalina is no longer physically with us, the love she gave remains. It lives in the family she built, the lives she touched, and the memories that will be carried forward for generations. Her life was a gift to her family, and her memory will remain a part of them always.
