Flora Ortega

Flora Ortega nee: Soto age 97. Beloved Wife of the late Valente “Val”. Loving Mother of Mario Ortega and Arthur (Lisa) Ortega. Cherished Grandmother of Lisa Marie, Ryan, Brittany, Gianna and Jesse. Great-Grandmother of Tony, Daniel and Marisol. Dear Sister of the late Ophelia, the late John (the late Dora), the late Peter (Marietta) and the late Paul (the late Ann) Soto. Fond Aunt and Friend of many. Flora made her mark early on from her time spent on an all-women’s baseball team long before it was common for women to play baseball. In her youth, she excelled at playing the violin; she was a Past President of the Lions Club and a member of the Wildcats Club. Most notably were the 38 years she spent with the Chicago Police Department as a prominent and well-respected Traffic Control Aide, retiring at the age of 83. Flora will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her love of family and her genuine kindness.
