Fred E. Wojtycki age 94

09/07/1930 – 11/08/2024

Beloved husband of 68 years to Virginia P. Wojtycki. Loving father of Sharon Wojtycki, Diane Joritz, Janice (Larry) Arcus, Jane (Tim) O'Brien. Fond grandfather of Matthew (Donna) Joritz, Natalie Joritz, Adam (Rachel) Arcus, Janelle (Matt Prokash) Miller, Charlotte (Stephen) Kopecki and Danielle Wojtycki. Great grandfather of Kurt Joritz, Luke Joritz, Violet Joritz, David Joritz, Erin Miller and Mackenzie Prokash. Loving brother, uncle, great uncle and friend of many.

Fred was born in Chicago to Polish immigrant parents and was the second youngest of 10 children. His family gave him the roots to stand tall, strong and proud. Much of Fred's youth was spent at the Boys Club or on a baseball field. Fred credits his family and love of sports for keeping him out of trouble (for the most part) in his adolescent years. In his early twenties, Fred started his side career of refereeing and umpiring basketball, football and baseball advancing to high school games. After 20 years (and getting run over by a lineman) Fred decided to hang up his whistle.

Family was by far Fred's favorite sport. He adored his girls and took great pleasure in intimidating the revolving door of boyfriends that dared to bring one of us home late (very willing to showcase his boxing moves). Above all, Grandpa Fred cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Fred often said "I need nothing more when I am with grandchildren". Grandpa always felt like he hit a grand slam, shot a hole in one, scored a hat trick, touchdown or 3-pointer after spending time with his loved ones. Fred's hobbies were walking downtown, scouting Maxwell Street for sports relics, traveling, visiting baseball stadiums and tagging along with his wife on her wild adventures. Now, a few short months after her passing, Fred joins his all-star wife on their eternal adventure. They are together again. Fred's passing leaves a vacancy in our world. Please continue his legacy at playing the great game of life.
