bJohn was a Sargeant in the U.S. Army during WWII and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater (Philippine Islands, New Guinea, Bismark Archipelago) and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 bronze service stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 bronze service star, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and an Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII.
