Jose Mendez, age 85.

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Jose Mendez, a devoted husband, loving father, and beloved grandfather, who left us peacefully on July 1, 2024, at the age of 85.  Jose was a man of few words but possessed a heart full of love and a spirit brimming with humor. His journey through life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family and an enduring work ethic.

Born into humble beginnings, Jose dedicated his life to working hard, always striving to create better opportunities and a brighter future for his loved ones.  His legacy is a testament to the power of hard work and the boundless love he had for his family. Despite his reserved nature, Jose's laughter was contagious, and he was always quick to share a joke to lift the spirits of those around him.

Jose found immense joy in watching action movies and cheering on his favorite soccer teams, even though he had two left feet and couldn't play to save his life. He was not afraid to admit his lack of soccer skills, often joking about how he was so bad as a young boy, he once "lent" his soccer shoes to a friend in the hopes it would make him a better player the next time he wore them.

Jose's enduring love for his wife, Dolores, was a shining example of devotion. Married on July 3, 1971, they were just two days shy of celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary. His love extended deeply to his five sons and eight grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life.

In the words of Jose, "Life is too short not to laugh," and while we mourn his passing, we find comfort in the joy and laughter he brought into our lives. Rest in peace, Jose Mendez, and may your spirit continue to bring smiles to our hearts.

Funeral July 6, 2024, Saturday 9:00 am from the WOLNIAK FUNERAL HOME, 5700 S. Pulaski Rd., to St. Agnes of Bohemia Church for Mass at 10:00 am.  Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Visitation July 5, 2024, Friday 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
