Josephine's early years raising a family began in the "Back of the Yards" neighborhood. Even after moving the family to the Marquette Park neighborhood, she left her mark where friends and acquaintances prayed for her health and safe passage to Heaven. For her career, Josephine spent many decades teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten at John H. Hamline Elementary School for the Chicago Public School system.
She would leave such an everlasting impression on her students at such a young age that students would often visit her as they grew older and thank her
for the teacher she was. This impact also was true for the teacher aides that worked alongside her whom she held many friendships with post retirement.Josephine loved family the most, but after family she had an unwavering love for the Chicago Cubs. She was a season ticket holder for 30 years andoften traveled to other cities to watch the Cubs on the road. She also was a frequent annual Cubs Convention attendee and her favorite event was Cubs Bingo. She got to witness the ups, downs, no-hitters, post season heartbreaks but there was no greater joy than seeing the Cubs win the World Series in 2016.
Josephine was a very active parishioner at St. Rita of Cascia Parish and then later at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church. Prior to her move toWisconsin, she went to Church nearly every day. Josephine passed away on August 28, 2026 and has entered into eternal life in Heaven.
