Obituary

Lori Ann Mrowca, beloved twin, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor died Friday, Oct. 18. She was 60.

Born on Feb. 23, 1964, at Holy Cross Hospital near Marquette Park, Lori arrived three minutes before her identical twin, Juli Ann, to the late Florence (Klaslo) and late John Mrowca. The twins were inseparable through six decades, commuting to the same university (UIC-Chicago), majoring business, working in finance and serving as lectors and Eucharistic ministers at Old St. Patrick's Catholic Church for several years.    After working many years in the banking industry, most recently at Chase Bank in the Chicago Loop, Lori became primary caregiver to her aging mother as her health declined.  A lifelong Southsider, Lori attended St. Turibius Catholic School and Mother McAuley High School before gaining her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Illinois-Chicago. She also was active in the Civil Air Patrol.

The twins shared the same blue eyes and big smiles, but Lori had one unique trait: She was left-handed. She and Juli delighted in confusing new acquaintances, doctors, teachers and friends by pretending to be the other. Besides Juli Ann Mrowca, Lori's survivors include: sisters Rita Hatfield of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Maryann Mrowca of Snellville, Ga., and JoAnn Louer of O'Fallon, Ill; brother James Mrowca of EastLake, Ohio; brothers-in-law Greg Hatfield, Timothy Pirkl and Mike Louer; sister-in-law Jacqueline Mrowca; nephews & nieces John Hatfield, Sarah Hatfield, Nick Hatfield, Daniel Pirkl, Thomas Pirkl, Emily Pirkl Puccetti, Kate Louer, Joseph Mrowca and Michael Mrowca; and great nephew Cameron Pirkl.

A one-hour visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 before 10 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Old St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 700 W. Adams St., Chicago. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association.
