Obituary

Luciano Reyes

Luciano, a proud Southsider, passed at the age of 74. A devoted father, loving brother, cherished uncle, and loyal friend, Luciano lived a full and vibrant life rooted in compassion, humor, and resilience.

A lifelong Chicago Bears fan, he wore his Urlacher jersey with pride. He had a magnetic personality and a beautiful, unforgettable smile that drew people in. His sense of humor, easy laugh, and love for a good time made him the heart of any gathering.

Luciano worked for many years in the steel industry, where he rose to the position of supervisor. He was respected not only for his strong work ethic but for the way he led—with fairness, empathy, and integrity. He truly cared for his employees, always looking out for their well-being, while also guiding them with a steady hand and clear expectations. To work with Luciano was to be both supported and challenged—he earned trust through consistency and heart.

Luciano grew up in a large and loving family, one of 14 children—he had four brothers and nine sisters. Family was everything to him, and he carried that spirit into everything he did. He had a deep love for fishing, sports, and even enjoyed dancing Zumba. Always full of energy and curiosity, he also considered himself a bird watcher, often carrying a camera in hopes of catching a rare sighting. But in true Luciano fashion, when going through his photos, you'd find far fewer birds than expected—and a lot more pictures of pretty girls. That was Luciano—full of mischief, charm, and laughter.

He made friends everywhere he went. His empathy, warmth, and generosity left lasting impressions on everyone he met. During the holidays, he would often dress up as Santa Claus, bringing joy to children and adults alike with his infectious spirit. He also gave his time freely to help others, particularly the homeless—his heart was always open to those in need.

Despite being told in his early twenties that he had only a few years to live, Luciano defied the odds and lived more than five remarkable decades beyond that prognosis. His strength and determination were matched only by his kindness and humor.

One of his most treasured traditions was visiting his mother every Sunday after church—an act of love and devotion that spoke to his deep commitment to family. He was a steady presence in the lives of those he loved, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his son, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Luciano Reyes leaves behind a legacy of laughter, compassion, hard work, and unwavering love.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
