Obituary

Maria Guadalupe Amador

On the afternoon of February 1, 2023, afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease and battling other ailments, Guadalupe died peacefully of natural causes at home, comforted by her family.

Born in Mexico to Jose and Elena, and--due to financial hardship—lovingly raised by her candlemaker Uncle Candelario and his sister, Monica, in Ocotlan. She lived there with her cousin Enedina, lots of pets, and most of all, love. She remained there for most of her youth until moving to the United States in 1955.

Guadalupe married Carlos in Chicago. They lived in a small apartment that somehow always had room for guests and had neighbors popping in and out. They were very happy and they both worked in various local industries during America's boom times. She had a wonderful work ethic and great manual dexterity which she used to easily switch between manual labor positions at factories producing such varied items as candy, picture frames, and electronic circuit boards. Some of her fondest work memories were of working the line with the melting pot that was Chicago's Zenith plant.

When her health no longer allowed for heavy labor, and after having Carlos, Jr., she used that same dexterity in her favorite hobbies of sewing and crochet and that filled her closet and home with beauty. She loved her garden and kept many flowers; her favorites being Dahlias, Chrysanthemums, and Phlox. She also loved all manner of animals and the birds would often wait for her to come out and toss bread.

She enjoyed being a homemaker and that later extended to working in the rectory of Our Lady of the Angels. A time she always recalled finely.

Guadalupe was preceded in death by: Chavela, Enedina, Antonio, and Teresa.

She is survived by her son, Carlos Jr.
