In Loving Memory of Maria Lourdes Guzman

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Maria Lourdes Guzman, who passed away on July 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Michoacán, Mexico, Maria carried with her a spirit of resilience, compassion, and unconditional love. Before dedicating herself fully to her family, Maria worked in healthcare, where she spent her time caring for others with kindness and compassion. After her first diagnosis of breast cancer, she embraced a new chapter in her life as a homemaker, dedicating herself to creating a loving home and being present for the people she loved most. Maria was a true fighter. After overcoming her first battle with breast cancer, she entered remission and remained cancer-free for more than 20 years. Her strength, perseverance, and courage were a testament to the incredible woman she was. After a second diagnosis late in 2025, she continued to face every challenge with the same determination and grace that defined her throughout her life. Maria was a devoted mother, loving partner, and cherished friend. Her daughters were the center of her world, and the love she gave to her family was immeasurable. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, gentle heart, incredible strength, and the joy she brought to those around her. She loved to dance, laugh, and create memories with the people she loved most. Through every chapter of her life, Maria continued to give love, warmth, and comfort to everyone around her. She is survived by her devoted partner, Adrian Ortiz Juarez; her loving daughters, Erica Lourdes Ortiz-Guzman and Melina Alexis Ortiz-Guzman; and her grandson Alexander Diaz Ortiz, along with extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life during a visitation on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wolniak Funeral Home, 5700 S. Pulaski Road, Chicago, Illinois 60629.Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that the love Maria gave will remain with us forever. Her memory will live on through the lives she touched, the kindness she shared, and the family she loved so deeply.Rest peacefully, our beautiful dancing queen.
