Randy John Bangs, 67, was a happy, warm-hearted person who had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went. A graduate of Curie High School in 1977, Randy carried that easygoing spirit throughout his life, leaving friendships and memories wherever he went. Randy had many lifelong friends, many of whom he met through his love of music and his beloved guitars. Music was one of the ways Randy connected with people, and those connections often grew into friendships that lasted a lifetime. Randy shared a years-long partnership with Chris Chilikas, who passed away in 2017. They shared a decades-long love and friendship, filled with companionship, laughter, and a deep affection for one another. Their favorite thing was simply making each other laugh—a testament to the joy they brought into each other’s lives. Randy was also an avid reader, averaging two books a week, and he loved movies. His curiosity, appreciation for stories, and love of entertainment were part of the rich and joyful life he created for himself and those around him. Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Marietta Bangs, who passed away in 2004. He was also preceded in death by his father, John Bangs, with whom Randy shared a close bond. Randy lived with his father and helped care for him until John’s recent passing, a reflection of the love and devotion Randy had for his family. Randy is survived by his sister, Robin Nyberg (David), and many beloved cousins, as well as the many lifelong friends whose lives he touched along the way. Randy will be remembered for his happiness, his generous spirit, his love of music, books, and movies, and most of all for the friendships he formed and the laughter he shared with the people he loved. His ability to make others feel welcome and his genuine enjoyment of life will remain a lasting part of the memories he leaves behind.
Funeral arrangements will be made at a later date.
