IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Edward
Barnas
December 3, 1951 – July 28, 2017
Richard Edward Barnas, of Chicago, passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2017 at the age of 65.
Born December 3, 1951 to Edward and Eugenia Barnas of Chicago, Richard was a gentle giant – a lifelong bodybuilder and teddy bear of a man with a giant heart and a loving soul. Richard was quick to laugh, and a loyal friend to all who met him. He was devoted to his family, and was especially proud of his nieces and nephews. He loved all of God's creatures, finned and furry, and doted on his dogs and cats. He enjoyed fishing anytime and anywhere, lifting weights, and being outdoors. He planted a mean garden. There was always room in Richard's heart for more. A Special Education teacher in Chicago for more than 20 years, Richard always looked out for the little guy, the working man.
Richard is survived by his spouse, Sally Sharp Barnas; his brothers Lawrence (Eileen) and Gerald (Cathie); his nieces and nephews Samantha (Pat), Suzanne (Eric), Jacqueline ( Fred), Scott (Meghan), Jessica, Steven and Jennifer; and Catherine and Dillon Sharp. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Eugenia, and his sister, Margaret.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Richard's favorite charities, Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge, 10305 Southwest Highway, Chicago Ridge, IL 60415 708.636.8586.
